Belinda still a winner after 32 years

When Belinda Sum joined DEUTZ in 1985, she’d been in Australia for three months. The company’s support of cultural diversity helped her to settle in so well that she never left.

“That certainly contributed to a healthy, safe and happy working environment … and that is one of the main reasons why I am still here,” Belinda says.

Belinda started as a Settlement Clerk at our Melbourne Head Office and has been part of the accounts department and processing the payroll for as long as anybody can remember.

After 32 years, she still enjoys her ever-evolving role. “Many tasks have been changed and added, but I don’t mind and am happy working with figures,” she says.

Those who have seen the lovely paintings in Belinda’s office won’t be surprised to learn that she and her artist husband Anthony ran a Kuala Lumpur gallery before moving here.

Belinda says our beautiful contrasting landscapes and family life inspired her and Anthony, who has held exhibitions and workshops in Malaysia, the USA, Europe and Australia.

At work, Belinda is a hardworking, reliable, dedicated and loyal DEUTZ Australia employee respected by all her colleagues – especially in the lead-up to payday.

She has worked in our Clayton, Braeside and Springvale head offices with the likes of Karl Haak, Peter Loosen, Ken Charpentier and Craig Chamberlin.

In her spare time, Belinda visits her daughter and grandchildren overseas and has been on safari in Africa. She keeps fit by walking and loves watching sport.

“I follow many sport events, such as the Tour de France, Grand Slam tennis tournaments, summer and winter Olympics, GP Formula 1 and AFL footy,” she says. “I admire the sportsmanship, the endurances of the athletes and the spirit of the games.”
