DEUTZ motors along in Italy

DEUTZ AG has strengthened its Italian sales and service network by purchasing long-standing dealer IML Motori in Lomagna, near Milan. It will use the landmark acquisition to drive growth and be closer to Mediterranean customers.

IML Motori, which generated around €45 million in revenue last financial year, will trade in Italy as DEUTZ Italy. Subsidiary IML Service and the Romanian sales and service company IML Motoare are also part of the acquisition.

DEUTZ purchased IML Motori to strengthen its international service business and enable greater market penetration in the profitable service management sector. Through its newly announced E-DEUTZ strategy and acquisition of electric drive specialist Torqeedo GmbH, DEUTZ has also entered the electrification field.

DEUTZ will use the landmark acquisition of IML Motori in Italy to drive growth and be closer to Mediterranean customers.

DEUTZ AG Board of Management member for Sales/Service & Marketing, Michael Wellenzohn, says the engine business’s increasing technical complexity requires close contact with customers.

“The acquisition of IML Motori will mean that our Italian customers benefit from even more DEUTZ expertise locally and from a more intensive customer relationship,” he says.

IML Motori is a DEUTZ Italian distributor of diesel engines and spare parts for industrial, agricultural, stationary and vehicular applications.

The business has worked in partnership with DEUTZ since the Keller family founded it in 1904. Operating a national service network in Italy and Romania, IML Motori is DEUTZ’s exclusive sales partner in both countries, thanks to its outstanding service.

It customises engines to meet any needs and an extensive dealer network provides aftersales and service activities for DEUTZ and other brands throughout Italy.

Roberto Brivio leads IML Motori’s experienced management team and will continue to serve the DEUTZ Group’s Italian customers. “This will allow us to further improve our penetration of the Italian market, including in the marine segment,” Mr Brivio says.
