One of Australia’s most respected engineering solutions companies rose from humble beginnings – more specifically a 132m2 shed in Rutherford, NSW. The business’s core business was initially line boring, and Tefol’s fleet of dual system line boring service trucks were the first in the Hunter Valley.
Tefol has grown significantly since it began in 2004 and has broadened the range of services it offers and the kinds of industries it supports, but the business has remained a family-owned affair with a focus on quality and customer service.
“The people at Tefol know what is happening in the industries they specialise in. They know what we should be doing and what we should be focusing on in the future to keep growing,” says Josie Small, Marketing Coordinator.
“We’re a business that is small enough for everyone to be able to talk to senior management about strategies and new ideas, but we’re also big enough to have the capability to complete big projects in the mining, transport and manufacturing industries.”
Tefol prides itself on offering its customers a ‘one-stop shop’ with its raft of services including line boring, boilermaking, onsite milling, machining, laser alignment, welding and fabrication and mechanical fitting.
“We handle everything in-house and this ensures a quick turnaround on projects as we have skilled people on site, or we can provide onsite services for clients when needed,” says Josie.
The transport side of the business delivers a suite of truck and trailer services, light vehicle and fleet maintenance, brake testing and complete engine overhauls. Tefol also stocks a range of diesel engines and has had a working relationship with DEUTZ Australia for many years.
Tefol has chosen to use DEUTZ products on a range of bespoke customer projects. For example, when building a mobile generator unit to power crib huts for a mining client, Tefol opted for a DEUTZ DPS 33 DG generator.
“Our engineering team prepared the drawings for the mobile generator unit and our team then built it,” says Josie.
“We chose to use a DEUTZ generator because of the ongoing reliability of the product, the low maintenance required and because of DEUTZ’s great after-care support.”
DEUTZ Australia’s focus on supporting reliable electricity initiatives also aligns with Tefol’s priorities.
“Both companies have a lot of technical expertise, and we both want to create solutions for clients that work and that are long-lasting,” says Josie.
