DEUTZ is helping to power onsite offices in Central Queensland coal mines.
Sold by DEUTZ dealer Penske Australia, three DPS13 KVA gensets have been connected to mobile crib rooms produced by Mackay-based M & P Services.
The self-contained and fully furnished rooms can be fitted out as offices or staff rooms and contain fridges and air conditioners.
The DEUTZ units power the crib rooms, which are used onsite at coal mines in central Queensland.
Penske Australia Senior Parts Advisor Drew Denman sold gensets to M & P Services, which produced the crib rooms and offices for employees in Bowen Basin coal mines.
The offices and crib rooms are mounted on skids which allow them to be manoeuvered around the mine site in less than favorable conditions.
Drew says the self-contained rooms can house 6-10 people as an office. They need no external power, and the large fuel tank will allow the generator to provide power for up to seven days.
“The beauty of these units is that they can be moved quite easily,” Drew says. “They build them on a large skid so they can take them to different places.”
Drew says the DEUTZ gensets were well suited to the project electronically, and their noise levels are low compared to other available models.
“The electronics inside the unit is extremely compatible with what they wanted to do,” he says. “Technically they were a good fit. They liked the design, the build. They were really happy with it.”
Penske Australia Sales Manager Lloyd Dilger says the project is a good example of the positive relationship between DEUTZ Australia and Penske Australia, which has more than 700 employees across 13 Australian branches.
Penske Australia has been a DEUTZ dealer for around five years in what has proven a fruitful partnership so far. “It’s a great relationship,” Lloyd says.
Business Development Manager – DEUTZ Power Solutions Ben Jenkinson says our strategic partnership with Penske Australia furthers our reach into the power generation marketplace and specialised industry sectors such as mining.
“Penske Australia has a unique skill set which allows them to tailor the DEUTZ product to suit unique applications,” Ben says.
