For more than 40 years, DEUTZ AG has offered an Xchange engine service and DEUTZ Australia has offered customers the same option for around 30 years.
DEUTZ Xchange focuses on professionally remanufacturing engines and parts to suit a range of machinery – from construction machines and pumps to underground mining equipment and agricultural machinery. Xchange engines are available for all engine series and all emissions standards.
The engines are thoroughly overhauled and fully reconditioned according to a 300-point reconditioning process. All wearing parts are replaced and all components are brought up to date technically. A rigorous final function and performance test on the test rig checks the quality and functioning of each engine before it is dispatched to customers.
This thorough remanufacturing process results in a product that is technically as good as new, and that carries the DEUTZ quality and a warranty of up to 5 years.
So why buy an Xchange engine, rather than buying new?

The Xchange process is simple – customers first contact DEUTZ Australia’s authorised dealer network with their engine serial number. They are then provided with a tailored quote that includes air or sea freight options to best suit the customer’s project timeline.
Local DEUTZ distributors or dealers work with customers throughout the process and DEUTZ engineers and technicians are on hand to access each engine’s original design specifications and to work to ensure the engine meets its intended performance level.
“Prior to dispatch, each Xchange engine undergoes a rigorous overhaul and quality assurance process. This ensures it meets the highest DEUTZ standards before being shipped to the customer, ready for action,” says Craig.

Another advantage of the Xchange program is that customers can benefit from DEUTZ Australia’s core return program. After receiving new engines, customers can coordinate with the DEUTZ Australia team to return their old ones, which are then inspected to ensure all fluids have been properly drained and to ensure they meet the return criteria.
Once approved, the customer receives a core deposit refund, making the Xchange engine option a more cost-effective and attractive solution.
Eventually, the old engine is shipped back to Germany, where it is disassembled. Usable parts are refurbished, worn-out components are replaced, and the engine is rebuilt ready for the next customer – continuing the DEUTZ Xchange cycle.
