QFI – A Business Built on Innovation and Old-Fashioned Values

“Big thanks to Lindsay at QFI for giving Jack a 30 second lesson on the science that goes on inside a fuel pump before he attacked a holder o-ring replacement job. There’s not too many shops with the amount of combined knowledge like these blokes…” DC Mechanical

QFI’s head office in Toowoomba routinely receives customer feedback like this from their customers. For the people at QFI, it reaffirms that the business’s focus on customer service that is second-to-none is working.

“We’ve been around for more than 40 years and that is largely due to our dedication to customer service. Our staff are passionate, professional and part of the QFI legacy – most have been part of the business for more than 25yrs,” says Ben Griffin, QFI Branch and Workshop Manager.

“If a customer has a problem, they call us and we talk them through how to sort it out. We have built a good reputation across Australia, and we have a team that works together to get the right result for our customers.”

Now a DEUTZ Australia company, QFI was originally started by John and Donna White and has a reputation as one of the country’s top ten diesel fuel injection specialists.

The business has expanded to offer repairs, diagnostics and overhauls on all diesel vehicles, plant and equipment, while retaining its specialist focus on fuel pumps and injectors. The team services industries including transport, agriculture, forestry, marine, mining, construction and the public sector.

“We also support mums and dads with their diesel 4WDs, truck and car dealerships, and carry out work for other diesel fuel injection shops that they can’t fix in-house,” explains Ben.

“When a customer has a fuel pump issue, we’ll talk it through with them before the pump is even removed to better work out the best next step. If we can offer advice or a solution that saves unnecessary work, we’re happy to help,” says Ben.

“When a fuel pump or set of injectors does come into our workshop, we give it a clean and one of our experienced technicians assesses it. Where possible, we’ll run it on the test bench to see how it’s performing and identify any issues.”

After diagnosing the problem, QFI explains the problem to the customer, carries out the repair, and then reassembles, tests and calibrates the pump or injectors to manufacturer specifications. It’s a full service from start to finish.

QFI can test fuel pumps dating back to the 1950s and 1960s and has one of the biggest stocks of used fuel pumps and fuel pump parts in Australia. So the business can rebuild fuel pumps that would otherwise be unserviceable.

The business’ mobile service provides diagnostics, servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs in the field.

“Down time and logistics cost customers money and our fully-equipped field service truck gets machines back to work quickly. We’re regularly on mine sites, working with plant contractors wherever they are located, and travel to farmers to service or repair agricultural equipment,” says Ben.

QFI’s connection with DEUTZ Australia spans more than 25 years and the business has strong technical knowledge of DEUTZ products. QFI is strengthening DEUTZ Australia’s service and support capability, particularly in specialist fuel injection, diagnostics, workshop repairs and mobile field service. QFI is also the Toowoomba-based OEM for DEUTZ and Daimler off-highway engines.

“Our guys have been to DEUTZ in Melbourne and Germany for training and to learn about new products. The relationship comes back to mutual support for the product and customer service,” he says.

As a DEUTZ Australia company, QFI will continue to build on its long-standing reputation for technical expertise, practical advice and customer service, while adding further depth to DEUTZ Australia’s national service network.
