Today, we’re highlighting DEUTZ Xchange Engines the fast and economical alternative to new replacements, expertly remanufactured and rigorously tested to meet our strict quality standards.

From construction machinery, pumps and vehicles to underground mining equipment, marine power units and agricultural applications, DEUTZ Xchange engines are available for a wide range of machines and engine types produced over the past 40 years. Their proven reliability and long-term value make them a trusted choice for replacing engines that are no longer available in new production.

DEUTZ Xchange engines provide an economical and sustainable alternative to new engines, particularly when new production models are no longer available, while maintaining the trusted quality you expect from DEUTZ. Through a qualified remanufacturing process, these engines deliver an efficient, readily available and resource-saving solution.

Within the DEUTZ Lifecycle Solutions portfolio, several Xchange options are available to suit different repair and replacement needs. These include partial replacements, including Short Block, Long Block and Long Block Plus, as well as complete engine replacement solutions. Understanding the differences can help you select the most suitable option for your application.

Includes the engine block, crankshaft and core internal components. This option is ideal for cost-effective repairs when only the base structure of the engine needs replacement.

Includes the engine block plus major internal components such as the crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods and pistons. Long blocks provide a convenient solution for more extensive engine repairs and can significantly reduce installation time.

A customised premium solution designed to minimise downtime. In addition to the components included in a long block, the Long Block Plus also includes key ancillary components that would normally need to be sourced separately, such as:

  • Injection systems (e.g. injectors and fuel pump)
  • Charge air systems, including turbochargers
  • Water pumps and oil pumps
  • Auxiliary components such as alternator or starter

Delivered as an almost complete replacement engine unit, the Long Block Plus enables faster installation and helps get your equipment back into operation with minimal assembly effort.

DEUTZ Xchange Replacement Engines are remanufactured original engines that are refurbished and tested through a certified remanufacturing process. They deliver the same performance and reliability as new engines, while offering several clear advantages:

  • Up to 30% more affordable than a new engine – full performance at a lower cost
  • Over 50% reduction in CO emissions* thanks to resource-saving remanufacturing
  • Flexible scope of delivery – the base engine can be combined with existing components to reduce costs
  • Warranty and factory test run – 100% tested to ensure maximum reliability

*Based on a DEUTZ TCD6.1 vs. equivalent new engine

When repair is no longer sufficient or a fast solution is required, a cost-effective DEUTZ remanufactured engine provides the ideal replacement for a wide range of applications. Find out more about DEUTZ Xchange products here.

The DEUTZ Xchange program relies on used engines (core returns) as the foundation for future engine remanufacturing. To ensure the long-term availability of these cores, DEUTZ has introduced a Core Buyback Initiative through DEUTZ Authorised Dealers.

This program enables customers to realise the value of their used DEUTZ engines by returning eligible engines for remanufacturing. To qualify, the engine must have no visible crankcase damage.

Customers can contact their local DEUTZ Authorised Dealer to check eligibility and obtain a valuation.

Following DEUTZ’s takeover of sales and service activities from Rolls-Royce Power Systems, we can now supply remanufactured Daimler/Mercedes-Benz and Detroit engines through the Xchange program.

Supported models include OM904/906, 934/936, 470, 471, and 473, with displacements ranging from 5 to 16 litres and power outputs up to 480 kW.

We also support Xchange for selected Detroit engines for off-highway applications.
