Popular Perth DEUTZ dealers Trevor Brougham and his wife Faye have plenty to celebrate this year.
As they took over Euro Diesel Services on 1 February, it went ‘back-to-back’ as DEUTZ Australian Dealer of the Year.
The award capped a busy two years that have seen the WA engine sales and reconditioning business successfully ride out the pandemic.
Recent growth continues
Despite COVID-19, Euro Diesel Services has continued to service the mining, construction, agriculture, and commercial industries – with a smile.
Trevor says this enabled them and their six employees to continue the good, old-fashioned service they’re known for.
“We’ve been flat out for about four years,” Trevor says. “If anything, it’s got busier.”
Trevor’s retired father-in-law Harry Girvan founded Euro Diesel Services in 1989 to fill a niche in the Perth market for serviced and reconditioned DEUTZ engines.
The team offers new and reconditioned liquid and air-cooled engines, including repairs, service, exchange components and genuine diesel engine spare parts.
Customers can access field service and on-site or workshop repairs.
Supporting key industries
Euro Diesel uses DEUTZ Australia’s products to service a growing range of industries.
The DEUTZ 914 series has been popular in powering underground mining pumps and drill rigs, and 2011 engines are also in demand on pumps. The 2011 engines are also fuel efficient and extremely compact, making them ideal for stationary and mobile equipment.
Trevor says among other things, mining projects looking for all types of minerals and precious metals such as lithium and gold have kept them busy.
“They already had big mining projects in the pipeline,” he says. “They were all coming online and getting built as the pandemic hit. They’re still going.
“There’s also plenty of agriculture that needs engines and parts, and a lot of local businesses with equipment like woodchippers and concrete pumps.”
DEUTZ partnership a win-win
Working with DEUTZ is a win-win for Trevor, who likes the product’s quality and reliability. “They give us no drama,” he says.
Trevor is “pretty chuffed actually” with his team’s award. He is especially pleased that it’s two in a row, something he’d like his beloved West Coast Eagles to achieve in the AFL.
“To go back-to-back is pretty good,” Trevor says with a smile. “When they told us, we were like ‘didn’t we just win one?’”
DEUTZ Dealer Development Manager Shane Moretto says Euro Diesel has been a key DEUTZ network member for many years, offering a high level of expertise and support.
Shane says Trevor and Faye’s ownership will allow continued service and support to customers.
“Becoming Australian Dealer of the Year for the second year in a row is a fantastic achievement, while maintaining service to WA customers with the restrictions and challenges of the past two years,” Shane says.
So, what’s the key to success? Trevor says it’s simple – look after your customers. “We answer the phone when people ring,” he says. “We’ve always done that.”
