Women add strength to CD Power

Women play an important role at DEUTZ Australia Dealer CD Power, which boasts a female CEO and engineers.  With female employees in management, engineering, procurement, stores, manufacturing, finance and administration, CD Power sits well above average for gender diversity in power companies.

Appointed in 2016, CEO Nikki Cheesman-Dutton is a rare find as a female CEO in the male-dominated power industry.  With a proven track record in leadership roles in telecommunications, electrical, mining, engineering, construction and power generation, Nikki brought 25 years of industry experience into her role and talks openly about the contribution of the wider CD Power team, dealerships and products.

CD Power CEO, Nikki Cheesman-Dutton

“Our team takes pride in delivering an efficient and reliable service to our clients and employs a continuous improvement mindset to exceed expectations and perform better than last time,” Nikki says. “The reliability of our products and our ability to produce bespoke power solutions sets us apart from our competitors.”

Servicing a range of remote locations across Australia, CD Power specialises in off-grid and mains-fail backup power requirements using generators, hydraulic power units and engines complemented by the latest solar and power storage technology.

Founded in Adelaide in 1985, CD Power now has about 90 full-time employees, including seven in Roma, Queensland.  It became a DEUTZ Australia dealer in 1997 and provides new engines, spare parts, servicing and complete packages driven by DEUTZ engines ranging from hydraulic power packs to pumps and generators.

The 912 and 914 engines are used in many oil and gas sector purpose-built packages, while single engines are sold into the agricultural market as repowers or new projects.

As the leading supplier of well-site serviced power solutions to the Oil and Gas Industry in Australia, CD Power has invested in product innovation and maintains a fierce focus on customer needs, which ensures their partnership with DEUTZ is complimentary.

In one example, CD Power was asked to design, build and deliver a HPU in less than a month during the Christmas break for shipment to North Africa.  The hydraulically powered drilling equipment needed to work reliably in year-round hot weather.

The finished product was powered by an air-cooled DEUTZ F3L2011 diesel engine.  With calm heads, a tight schedule and a quality DEUTZ product, CD Power delivered at a time when most people were still sleeping off their festive indulgences.

Nikki says DEUTZ engines are reliable, fuel efficient and well backed up in Australia. “We have no hesitation in offering DEUTZ as a preferred brand to our oil and gas sector customers who are pleased with the products and service.” she says.
